Mini sculptural dinner service from the Service Totem collection. It’s made up of various containers – plates, salad bowls, trays and bowls – which, once assembled, form a totem sculpture. This dual function makes it a hybrid object between the decorative and the functional.
It’s made using the most precise throwing techniques to obtain the right joints. Turning is carried out on a potter’s wheel. After kneading the ball of clay, it must be centered on the girelle by moving it up and down. The ball is then pierced in the center, and the walls are carefully fitted into the desired shape. After a day or so of drying, the piece reaches a baked consistency, ideal for the turning stage. The piece is turned over on the girelle and, using tools, the lines are tightened and the base refined. Despite its apparent ease, this technique takes years of practice to achieve the satisfaction of turning the desired shape.
This model is a miniature sculptural table service with 4 pieces that together form a small sculpture. The intermediate wooden tray is custom-turned by Alois Bonnaud. Its aesthetic treatment expresses the beauty of raw earth on the outside and the surprise of color on the inside, or vice versa.
This 4-piece set allows you to present an aperitif, multiple starters or desserts.
